Europe is amid a severe digital crisis – according to findings from various studies. Case in point, the most recent Eurostat report concluded that a staggering 40 percent of Europe-based firms looking to hire ICT professionals find it difficult to get skilled workers. Also, soon enough – 2020 to be precise – it is predicted that ICT jobs in Europe will grow by over 670,000, yet the market can take in further 756,000 ICT experts if they are available. Unfortunately, the report also concluded that about 44 percent of the adult demographic in Europe has insufficient or no digital skills. As such, the region is not equipped to respond to the soaring demand for digital skills.
